Today at Highest CD Rates we are visiting Capital One Bank CD rates. They advertise that their CDs can be counted on for solid returns, but those returns are far below the national average.

The Capital One certificate of deposit rates have seen a decline in the APY’s they were earning from 0.05% to 0.74%. This is still the trend from the major financial intuitions across America at this time with no end in sight. They have also removed the 7 year and 10 year terms from their website.

To open an account and obtain the stated CD rates, a minimum deposit of $5,000 is still required.

The current CD rates include the 6 month CD that is earning an APY 0.20%. The 1 year CD that is earning an APY 0.20%.

The 18 month CD that is earning an APY 0.20%. The 2 year CD that is earning an APY 0.30%. The 3 year CD that is earning an APY 0.50%.

The 4 year CD that is earning an APY 0.70%. The best CD rates are from the 5 year CD that is earning an APY 1.01%.

At maturity each of the CDs you have invested in will have a 7 day grace period. This allows for you to make any changes as you see fit to the account or withdraw the funds.

The Capital One CD rates were posted on November 3, 2011 but are subject to change without any prior notice.

Going bank-by-bank, we here at Highest CD Rates Info are continuing our look at the latest and highest CD rates offered at the major national banks. Today, we’re having a look at Capital One CD rates, which we haven’t done for some time.

*Editor’s Note: this is an older article, and we have recently updated our research about current Capital One Bank CD Rates. For our latest article on Capital One Certificate of Deposit Rates, please see the following page: Capital One CD Rates

There are several offers in Capital One certificate of deposit rates right now. These current CD rates require a $5,000 minimum deposit to open and maintain and vary in annual percentage yield (APY) by term length.

For the shorter-term investor, the Capital One CD rates on a 6 month term are 0.25% APY and for one year they are 0.50% APY. Not necessarily the highest CD rates nationally, but competitive.

For 18 months, the rate is 1.15% APY while a special on a two year term gives highest CD rates of 2.30% APY which are definitely one of the highest in the U.S. right now. Those are great Capital One certificate of deposit rates.

For the 30 month term, 1.25% APY is offered and for 3 years the current CD rates are 2.00% APY. Four years gives a big 2.95% APY though, another solid Capital One CD rates offer that is one of the highest CD rates nationally for the term.

A 5 year term nets 2.40% APY as do 7 and 10 year terms.

Jumbo (over $100,000) rates are the same. Be aware that the current FDIC insurance coverages of $250,000 are only good until 2013, so if your certificate of deposit’s term ends after January 1, 2013, it will not be covered.

These highest CD rates and great Capital One CD rates offers will change, of course. So if current CD rates at Capital One appeal to you, lock yours in today. Capital One is fully FDIC insured.
