Right now, TD CD rates are in three categories: Basic, No Catch, and Step Rate offers. The Basic is only one term and requires a $250 minimum deposit to open and maintain. The CD rates at TD Bank for this 9 month term Basic are 0.70% annual percentage yield (APY).

For the No Catch offers, the best CD rates are offered in 6 or 12 month terms and also require a $250 minimum deposit to open and maintain. You get the added bonus of one penalty-free withdrawal from your CD during its lifespan (term). The 6 month term gives 0.30% APY and the 12 month term gives 0.40% APY.

Finally, the Step Rate TDBank CD rates step up the rate for each year of the term, beginning with a 3 year and also a 5 year offer. These also require a $250 minimum deposit to open and maintain and a 3 year term offers interest rates starting at 1.34% the first year, moving up to 1.54% the second year and finally ending at 1.98% the third year for an average 1.63% APY. The 5 year term is similar.

The 5 year CD interest rates at TD start at 1.00%, go up to 1.24% the second year, 1.98% in year 3, 2.47% in year 4, and end at 4.17% in year 5 for an average of 2.20% APY.

Definitely some good offers and some of the highest CD rates around at TD. TD Bank is, of course, fully FDIC insured.

TD Bank, N.A. is the U.S. subsidiary of Toronto-Dominion Bank, the 2nd largest bank in Canada. TD Bank acquired Commerce Bank in 2008, and now has over 450 branch locations. In our search for the highest CD rates, we were eager to see how TD Bank CD rates measure up.

*Editor’s Note: this is an older article, and we have recently updated our research about current TD Bank CD Rates. For our latest article on TD CD Rates, please see the following page: TD Bank CD Rates

While researching CD rates at TD Bank, we came across several TDBank CD rates worth noting:

The TD Bank 13 Month CD: earns an Annual Percentage Yield (APY) of 3.00 percent. This certificate of deposit requires a minimum investment of $500.

The TD Bank 3 Year CD: earns an APY of 3.50 percent. This CD also requires a minimum deposit of $500.

The TD Bank 4 Year CD: earns an Annual Percentage Yield of 4.00 percent. This certificate of deposit also requires a minimum investment of $500.

The TD Bank 5 Year CD: earns an APY of 4.25 percent. Like the other TD CD rates, this one requires a minimum deposit of $500.

So, whether you are looking for a short term CD or a long term CD, don’t rule out TD Bank CD rates. Be sure to check the TD Bank online banking web site to confirm the rates and terms available in your area, as CD rates can change quickly and vary by location.
