This is a National Penn Bank CD rates update by Highest CD Rates. This is necessary since National Penn Bank has now added two new terms to their selection of CDs available online. The National Penn Bank is headquartered in Boyertown, Pennsylvania and has 120 branch offices across the state. They also have one now in Maryland, for the convenience of their customers.

The current CD rates include 1 year CD that is earning an APY of 0.45%. The 3 year CD is earning an APY of 1.00%.

The best CD rates and current CD rates are from the 5 year CD that is earning an APY of 1.75%. The minimum deposit amount required for all of the standard CDs is only $500. The 5 year CD is also available as an IRA CD, with the same minimum deposit requirements of $500. The APY is also set at 1.75%.

The CD special this month is the 5 month Ready Access Account. This fixed term CD is earning an APY of 0.40%. The minimum deposit to open an account and obtain the stated rate is $500. This CD term is not available as an IRA CD. With this CD, you can make a full withdrawal of principal and all interest of the deposit it has accrued, after a seven day waiting period from the initial time of the deposit has occurred. This withdrawal does not initiate a penalty, but the earnings will not be the full amount if an early withdrawal does occur.

The focus of today from Highest CD Rates is on the changes of the ING Bank CD Rates. These changes have occurred since our last visit at the end of 2011. While most of the CDs have remained constant, the longest term CD has seen a reduction of 0.25% in what they were earning investors.

The current CD rates include the 6 month CD is an APY of 0.50%. The 9 month CD is earning an APY of 0.50%.

The 1 year CD is earning an APY of 0.50%. The 18 month CD is earning an APY of 0.50%. The 2 year CD is earning an APY of 0.50%.

The 30 month CD is earning an APY of 0.80%. The 3 year CD is earning an APY of 0.80%. The 4 year CD is earning an APY of 0.80%.

The best CD rates are from the 5 year CD that is earning an APY of 1.00%.

The minimum deposit to open a CD account and obtain the above CD rates is $1.00. This can be done electronically or phone by calling one of the ING branch offices.

The interest earned by the CDs can be paid out monthly, quarterly or annually, the choice is that of the investors to make. This payment does not quality as an early withdraw since the principal remains on deposit so there is no early withdraw penalty fee. The down side to taking the interest out is you will only earn the stated interest rates and not the APY’s quoted above.

The ING CD rates were posted on December 3, 2011 and are still valid for the month of May, 2012, but are subject to change without any prior notice.
